Conscious Homestead's Guiding Principles
Conscious Homestead is committed to co-creating a space that is rooted in healing our ancestral connection to the land while centering BIPOC wholeness and liberation. We believe that when we center BIPOC wholeness...
...we reject the ways our culture of dominance, colonialism, capitalism and oppression divide us from the land as well as our individual and collective wholeness.
...we take responsibility for healing the wounds & woundings of our ancestors.
...we collect the parts of ourselves that we are told need to be tucked away and hidden in the periphery to hold space for all of our parts to show up fully and honestly at the center.
...we align with our purpose and claim our capacity and potential to be fully who we are here to be.
...we care for ourselves, each other and the earth; living WITH not OVER the land or one another.
...we co-create a way to live our lives in liberation, with love as our teacher.
...we choose to be free from the veils of illusion that cloud our minds and distract us from being the whole being we were born to be.
...we are choosing to love ourselves unconditionally.

Are you ready to live in your wholeness?

At Conscious Homestead we as a community and membership are in the active practice, of understanding and unlearning the ways we have been taught to dominate the land. We have all grown up in a colonized world; its tendrils have entangled itself in almost every facet of our modern day culture. This means we are all impacted and influenced by colonization. Colonization, capitalism, dominance culture are all the embodiment of what it means to live over the Earth and one another.
At Conscious Homestead we seek to be a space where we can practice being in a decolonized relationship with ourself, each other and the land. We seek to co-create a community that is in the active practice of unlearning the ways we have been taught that living over is normal, better, stronger, the only way and instead choose to reclaim living with as our true and forgotten ancestral homeostasis. On this journey we ask ourselves how can we do the work of shifting our lens and lifestyle away from "living over" and remember what it means to "live with" in words and in action. We look to this framework to the right (developed by Candace) to support our individual and collective reflections, visioning, dreaming, questioning, imagining and most importantly living. Individually and in community we unpack what it means to live with vs over and how we each participate in both. We have meaningful conversations about how we've been socialized and how that either aligns with or conflicts with who we really are in our wholeness. We honor that this practice can and will be one we have to roll up our sleeves for and we know we may stumble along the way but we choose to commit to trying together. |
And in that spirit we acknowledge that even with the best of intentions, inevitably harm will be experienced. Being that Conscious Homestead is also the primary residence of the stewards of this land, Candace and Tony, they reserve the right to require a person or group of people leave their home / homestead indefinitely when concern for their (or anyone else's) safety is a factor. In instances where harm is experienced but concern for safety is not a factor we commit to the practices of direct communication and reparative/restorative circles to co-create space for understanding, accountability, making amends and taking responsibility for harm and healing.
We choose to be the seeds of wholeness and liberation in this one corner of this vast world and that means having the space, grace and humility to know that co-creating an intentional community takes time, communication, reflection and lots of room for evolution, in language, concepts and practices. We honor our humanity and the many times in life situations are intersectional, complex, layered manifestations of "both/and"; both a fairy tale and a nightmare, both exhilarating and exhausting, both nourishing and triggering etc. This means that each story of harm will be processed in reparative circle and result will be uniquely its own. In time a form will be linked here and on our list of links page to submit a request for reparative/restorative circle(s) pertaining to issues of harm experienced on the homestead. Thanks for your patience as we finalize this form. In the meantime you are welcome to email Candace directly at [email protected]. |
